About the Tutor
After studying an academic degree and pursuing a career in business, Laura changed course. She went to London College of Fashion to study making costumes for performance.
Her work experience in the ladies’ workroom at the National Theatre led to call backs to help with productions. She worked there for over two years and went freelance in 1994.
“I have made costumes for most major theatres in London and some for TV and film plus replicas for Museums. When theatres went dark during the pandemic I decided rather than relaunch in theatre to focus on education so I can pass on the skills I have built up over the last 30 years.”
Laura is also skilled in related subjects like dyeing, dye effects, screen printing and millinery. And can knit and crochet.
We look forward to seeing you at our new sewing and mending session where you can learn to mend and alter your clothes.
